About

I’m Alex who has a secret fondness of petting pretty things; books, fabric, dishes, dresses, trees… if it’s pretty I have to touch it. A bad habit? Not really. My minimalist nature keeps me from buying everything I see so I settle for petting the pretty things here and there, instead.

However, I have bought, used, and tried everything listed on Pet the Pretty Things and I share my mini-reviews because I adore the product and think you might too. I am not paid to write these reviews, I do not write a review just because someone asks and even if I am sent a product to test out that doesn’t mean it’ll get reviewed on here. Only things I truly love and pet are shared so you can either get it, too or pet it until you can!

Why do this? I created my first personal web page in 1995 to share information and ideas on life, travel and home. That first site attracted over 800,000 visitors each day and I realized that sharing information was one of the biggest gifts of the internet and so, I went on to create more sites – each attracting hundreds of thousands of visitors, awards, media attention and brand recognition.

Pet the Pretty Things began as “The A(lex)-List” in 2000 as a side on my personal site. Due to its popularity, it became its very own site in 2005. In March 2008, the site was converted to run on WordPress to allow for comments and easier navigation, making it more of an interactive site for all of those who just can’t stop petting the pretty things!

I immigrated to America in 2000 and currently reside in Santa Monica, CA. For more of my work, please visit my company, Girl at Play.

Disclosure:

Pet the Pretty Things is not a job for me – it’s a personal project that I do because I enjoy it. I began blogging long before you could make money and get free stuff so that’s never been my motivation. I have my own company that pays me well so that I don’t have to rely on ad revenue here. I also am not paid to write posts or talk about products. 99% of the things I mention I’ve paid for (products, trips, hotels etc.) so if I share something I like, you can trust that I really do. That being said, I do have Google ads and do have affiliate programs with Amazing – so if you purchase something on Amazon from a link of mine, I do receive a tiny tiny portion – all of which I donate (Women for Women & Habitat Women Builds! are my favourite).

P.S.: Did I feature your product on this site? Do you want to link back? Feel free to use the graphic below by right-clicking on it and saving it to your hard drive.
